Nice is a beautiful city on the Mediterranean coast of southern France. It is midway between Cannes and the Italian border on the glamourous French Riviera. Nice has a historic Old Town which draws many international tourists. The surrounding tree-covered hills and the old port add to the charm of this scenic resort. Old Nice offers some interesting shops lining the narrow streets and the famous flower market makes a colourful sight. Climb the hill (or cheat and take the elevator!) to the ruined Colline du Chateau for great views of the Baie des Anges. Other must-see attractions in Nice include the opulent Russian Cathedral, the Matisse Museum which has a fine display of his colourful artwork, and the Musee Chagall with its fabulous stained glass windows.
